Blog Post: What does a rabbit eat? | Pet Medicus

Friday, March 17, 2023

Rabbits are herbivorous animals, which means they primarily eat plants. In the wild, they graze on a variety of vegetation, such as grasses, clover, dandelion, and other leafy greens. Domesticated rabbits, such as pet rabbits, can also eat a similar diet.

In addition to hay and fresh grass, a balanced diet for a pet rabbit may include a mix of fresh vegetables and fruits, such as carrots, kale, broccoli, parsley, apple, and banana. It's important to avoid feeding your rabbit foods that are high in sugar, fat, or salt, as well as foods that are toxic to rabbits, such as chocolate, avocado, and iceberg lettuce.

Always make sure that your rabbit has access to clean, fresh water and that their diet is balanced and appropriate for their age and health condition.
