Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Erica Butler is a native Arizonan (they do exist!!) having grown up in Mesa, AZ. As a teen Dr. Butler was horse crazy and even owned a horse training business after high school. She has done competitive dressage, show jumping, cross country, western pleasure, and even natural horsemanship. After graduating with an undergraduate degree from UofA in Tucson, she pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University, intending to become an Equine veterinarian. She graduated in 2012 however with different goals, that of being a small animal emergency doctor. Exposure to emergency medicine both during and immediately after graduation solidified her love of ER, which is what she practices here at 1st Pet as an emergency veterinarian since 2014. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cats, Frank and Bumpi. In her spare time Dr. Butler also enjoys mountain biking and bowling.
