Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Mayne's passion in caring for animals began early, when as a young child in rural upstate New York he watched veterinarians diagnose and treat livestock, dogs, and cats in the surrounding barnyards and pastures. After high school, he attended Cornell College of Agriculture. He was awarded a full scholarship in his junior year to attend the Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina, beginning an interest in Spanish and international events. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he remained at Cornell, graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine where he particularly enjoyed studying small animal surgery. Even now he devotes a large part of his practice to surgical cases. Following graduation, Dr. Mayne practiced in several veterinary hospitals in the Boston community. He conceived and built the Vickory Hill Veterinary Hospital in Southboro, MA which won the Veterinary Economics Magazine National Hospital Design 'Merit of Honor Award'. He went on to study business at Boston University and, after receiving his MBA degree, he moved with his family to southern California. For three years he owned and operated Alpine Animal Hospital in Rim Forest before joining practice with Dr. Rains.
