Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Potenza obtained her Bachelors of Science degree from Cornell University and went on to graduate from the University of California, Davis- School of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed an equine medical and surgical internship here at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital. Following the internship, Dr. Potenza sought out advanced training in diagnostic imaging and navicular bursography through the Masters program at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Potenza is certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture. She is a licensed official under the United States Equestrian Federation with certification as an FEI Veterinary Delegate. She is a member of the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology and is working toward official certification. An avid member of the United States Eventing Association, she enjoys competing, as well as serving as the on site veterinarian for equestrian sports events. Dr. Potenza has pursued further specialized education in diagnostic ultrasound and lameness, and equine rehabilitation including gaining Certification in Equine Rehabilitation. After practicing as an associate focusing on Sports Medicine/Lameness and Internal Medicine at a large equine referral hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, she decided to enhance her sports medicine and acupuncture skills in the New England area before transitioning into the ownership role at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital. Dr. Potenzas interests include sports medicine, advanced lameness diagnostics, ultrasonography, and equine rehabilitation. She is available for rehabilitation consultations to referring veterinarians and clients
