Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Neefe grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and was surrounded by animals. She loved taking care of the animals and trying to help them when they were sick-especially the dogs, cats, and horses. Since age five, she has ridden and shown horses. She also participated in 4-H and went to the yearly state horse show. Dr. Neefe completed her undergraduate degree in zoology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During college, her academic interests were in science, and she continued to have a desire to work with animals which led her to apply to veterinary school at Madison. She got an early acceptance to veterinary school and after starting the program, she knew it was a good fit! While in veterinary school, Dr. Neefe came to California for a summer to visit her sister and to complete an externship. She fell in love with California and moved here right after graduation. Dr. Neefe has been living in Concord since 1999 and joined our Monte Vista family in 2015. When not working, Dr. Neefe takes care of her two beautiful daughters, two beloved dogs, and six-yes six-cats! Her cats are sometimes referred to as her "herd", which helps her feel more at home. She hopes to someday have horses again, but keeps plenty busy for now!
