Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Kim graduated with a degree in animal science from UC Davis in 2000. After working in the biotechnology industry for two years performing microsurgery on rodents, she decided to return to UC Davis for veterinary school. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2006, and was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Internal Medicine Award by Pfizer Animal Health. She went on to pursue a 1-year rotating internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego. She completed a 3-year residency in small animal internal medicine also at UC Davis in 2010. Her residency research project investigating diagnostic modalities in cats with Feline Interstitial Cystitis was given the House Officer Small Animal Research Award.Dr. Kim is passionate about all aspects of internal medicine, but has particular interest in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, lower urinary tract, and kidneys. Her mission is to nurture the human-animal bond by providing the next step in veterinary care.Dr. Kim originally hails from Sacramento. She lives with her husband, two young daughters, high maintenance cats named Ben and Cheese, a betta fish named Closet (of course named by her preschooler), and an assortment of snails, caterpillars, and insects captured in jars of various sizes by said preschooler. She enjoys cooking, cleaning house, playing piano, and eating dark chocolate.
