Veterinarian Overview
I am blessed to have spent a lot of time at my fathers veterinary hospital while growing up in small-town Indiana. When I was four years old, I remember watching him perform surgery on Tuesdays so that my mom could run errands. On Christmas morning, my three siblings and I would always walk the dogs that were staying at the hospital before opening our gifts. We were only allowed to enjoy the Christmas festivities after the hospital chores were finished. Growing up with my dads practice next door was a wonderful experience that gave me an understanding of what it takes to be a terrific veterinarian. I attended college at Northwestern University where one of the highlights was playing varsity lacrosse. I was a captain of the 2005 team that went undefeated and won the NCAA Division I National Championship. After Northwestern University, I received my veterinary degree with distinction/honors from Purdue University. The Manhattan and Hermosa Beach communities are perfect for my lifestyle. My identical twin sister, Courtney, and I recently hiked the 220 mile John Muir Trail from Yosemite Valley to Mount Whitney, and I have fallen in love with surfing. You may also spot me running on the strand or playing tennis at Live Oak Park. Sprout, my two year old Goldendoodle, and I enjoy paddleboarding and hiking together, too. I recently started volunteering with CASA of LA, a non-profit that improves the lives of foster children. Getting to know my patients and their owners is my favorite part of being a veterinarian. I am constantly in awe of the complexity and strength of the bond between pets and their human parents and I am honored to play role in keeping pets and owners together for as long as possible. Although I love to celebrate happy and healthy pets, I also find reward in providing knowledge and support in those difficult times. My goal is to improve the quality of life for all involved and I am grateful that I get to do this daily!
