Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Allison Habekost is a native of Orange County. After both traveling and studying abroad, her desire to be close to her family and friends brought her back to her home in South Orange County. Dr. Habekost completed her undergraduate education at the University of Redlands, where she earned two Bachelors degrees: one in Biology and the other in English Literature. During college she also donated her free time to a local animal shelter and returned to San Juan Capistrano during the summers to work with a local veterinarian and for the San Clemente Animal Shelter. After graduation, Dr. Habekost attended veterinary school at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. During her veterinary education, Dr. Habekost spent two summers in East AfricaKenya, Tanzania, and Ugandastudying veterinary medicine, working with injured wildlife (lions, buffalo, gazelle, and zebras), and taking additional courses focused on wildlife conservation medicine. After surviving several long, cold winters at Kansas State, Dr. Habekost received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and returned home to sunny Orange County. Upon her return, Dr. Habekost completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine at Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital. At SCVSH, she saw and treated patients in the areas of internal medicine, surgery, oncology, cardiology, emergency and critical care, and neurology. As one of the doctors of San Clemente Veterinary Hospital, she shares her knowledge and love of animals. In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Habekost enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and attending spin classes. She also loves to spoil her cat, Tater, and enjoys taking her dog Jaax, a greyhound-Labrador mix, for walks at the Dana Point harbor or on hikes in the hills of San Juan Capistrano.
