Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Deborah Hackman was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She obtained her bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2006, then moved to Ames, Iowa to attend veterinary school. She completed her DVM at Iowa State University in 2011, during which time she developed a special interest in dentistry, surgery and neurology. After veterinary school, she moved to sunny San Diego to enjoy the warm weather while practiving veterinary medicine. Over the years she has volunteered for high volume spay and neuter clinics, including the Feral Cat Alliance and Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS). She is USDA accredited and a member of the California Veterinary Medical Association since 2012. Her favorite part about being a veterinarian is helping owners care for their pets and improving their quality of life. Dr. Hackman has two dogs, a Labrador Retriever and a toy Rat Terrier, as well as two Domestic Shorthaired cats at home. In her spare time she enjoys SCUBA diving, hiking, traveling and reading.
