Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Calvin G. Lum, a San Francisco native, was awarded the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of California at Davis in 1987. As a young child, I developed a strong curiosity and love for animals. My growing interests in teaching, biology, and physiology led me on a natural course to a career in veterinary medicine. I completed my double baccalaureates in Zoology and the Biology of Natural Resources at the University of California at Berkeley. Upon receiving my DVM, at UCDavis in 1987, I completed an informal internship at a small animal practice in Los Gatos, CA. I then spent 10 years in a small animal practice on the Peninsula, in Redwood City, CA. Missing my hometown, I relocated back here to the City By The Bay in 1998, where I practiced for 5 years in Laurel Heights, and then 4 years in Diamond Heights, before embarking on this new adventure. I share my original childhood home with my 2 cats, pictured below : Rudy, the beautiful blue-eyed, flame point 12 year old DMH cat; and Rocket, the sleek, green-eyed, gray 10 year old DSH cat, rescued from the dumpster. They keep me entertained, while I enjoy life back home here, with my family, friends, the restaurants, the sites, the theater, previous taiko drumming, and all that this beautiful city has to offer.
