Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Melissa Belknap was born and raised in Newport Beach, California. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Arizona, and although she has always loved animals, she didn't seriously consider veterinary school until after graduation. At that time she got her first job in the field as a receptionist at a local animal hospital and loved it. She went back to college to take prerequisite courses while working in two animal hospitals and volunteering in a sea bird rehabilitation center. She then chose Kansas State University and earned her veterinary degree in 2008. Dr. Belknap recently moved to Visalia with her husband and two daughters in order to be closer to his family. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, especially creating trusting relationships with clients. When not working, she is raising her kids. If she ever finds time alone, she'll do yoga or read a book with her cat Nicky on her lap.
