Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Kelli Sanders grew up on a dairy farm in northern Wisconsin and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian at age 9 when she helped perform a C-section on one of the Holsteins on the family farm. Dr. Sanders attended Eastern New Mexico University majoring in Microbiology and graduated from Colorado State University with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She worked with large animals for the first 9 years and then transitioned to working with small animals. Dr. Sanders proudly serves in the United States Army Reserves as a Veterinary Corp Officer of the 358th Medical Detachment out of Montgomery, Alabama. Her major interests are pet surgery, orthopedics, internal medicine and dermatology. She is working on her Masters of Public Health and is married with a husband of 30 years, 2 adult children, 1 daughter in law and 3 wonderful grandchildren. Dr. Sanders is a skilled pet surgeon with expertise in dog and cat soft tissue surgeries including mass removals, perianal adenomas, thyroidectomy, aural hematomas, eye removal, third eyelid flap, laceration repair, abdominal exploratory, cystectomy, splenectomy, C-section, bowel resection and hernia repair. Dr. Sanders can perform pet orthopedic surgeries including dog and cat bone fracture repair, luxating patella surgery, limb amputation, toe amputation, cranial cruciate repair, jaw fracture repair and mandible resection as well as ultrasound guided biopsy of abdominal organs or masses.
