Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Sergio Vega graduated from the University of Havana in 1968. He came to South Florida in 1975 and has been a Florida resident ever since. Before opening his veterinary practice, he was the veterinarian in charge of the animal colony at Baxter Travenol, an international pharmaceutical company. He introduced a number of protocols in immunology and blood transfusions, and he was responsible for the welfare of animals at the company. In 1990, Dr. Vega opened Dream Lake Animal Hospital, where he is the hospital director. Aside from his dedication to the facility, he has many other achievements, which include: Introduction of microchipping to South Florid Creation of an accredited course of study for vet technicians at Miami Dade College, where he was a professor for six year Coordination of several refresher courses for veterinary graduates at FIU and Nova Universities Magazine publications Scientific lectures at veterinary conventions Dream Lake Animal Hospital participates in low-cost spay and neuter programs with the Friends of Animals and the Marshmallow/Mattie Foundation. Dr. Vega also keeps himself abreast of current veterinary advances by attending lectures and seminars.
