Veterinarian Overview
Patricia Campbell I did not take the straight path to veterinary school. In fact, my path may hold more curves than most. I am not one of those people who knew as a child that they would become a veterinarian. My mother used to tell the story that I wanted to be several things growing up...including a nun and a secret agent. Following graduation from Brandeis University I worked for a bank and for many years enjoyed a successful career in financial services. To support my advancement, I earned an MBA from Bentley College. However, over time my professional success no longer translated into personal satisfaction. To fill this void, I volunteered for local humane societies and became intrigued by veterinary medicine and animal health. It was then that I decided to become a veterinarian. Although I was one of the older students in my class at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, no one was more enthusiastic or hard working than I. The sheer terror of failure is a powerful motivator! Following graduation I have been a respected associate at practices in Massachusetts and Florida. I am an accomplished veterinary acupuncturist, completing certification through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) in 2001. I love discussing veterinary medicine and pet health and have appeared in several newspaper articles and television news programs in both Massachusetts and Florida. I also love to teach and have presented lectures on various topics such as pet nutrition, homeopathy, acupuncture and other alternative therapies. I am deeply privileged to work with my clients and their beloved animal companions. I am reminded of a quotation from John Gardner that sums up my life as a veterinarian perfectly. "What could be more satisfying than to be engaged in work in which every capacity or talent one may have is needed, every lesson one may have learned is used, every value one cares about is furthered." I look forward to seeing my old friends and meeting new ones!
