Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Antz-Hanson, DVM, is a life-long member of the St. Petersburg community. She grew up in Tierra Verde, FL and after finishing high school at Lakewood High, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida College of Agriculture with dual majors; Animal Science, and Microbiology and Cell Science. In 1990 she received her Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Her interests iin veterinary college were in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, Small Animal Internal Medicine and Large Animal Medicine. Dr. Antz-Hanson has loved working with animals since she was a young girl. As a teenager she worked at a horse stable. It was during that time she decided she wanted to be a veterinarian. She combined her life-long compassion for animals with education and experience, gaining the understanding and knowledge of how to help them. After nine years of college education she was able to accomplish her hearts desire of providing medical care for all kinds of different animals. Now with over twenty-four years in the animal medical field, she still feels very blessed to be a veterinarian, and continues providing the best care possible for all pets, with compassion and concern for each patient and their entire family. During her free time, Dr. Antz-Hanson enjoys family, reading, sewing, writing music and poetry, photography, raising beef cattle, spending time with her horse and watching sunsets. She and her husband have four daughters and one son who have added five granddaughters and five grandsons to their family. Her furry family members include her Doberman, Owen; her Labrador, Susie; her five cats, Zeus, Samantha, Edith, Smoosher, and Stranger; her Herferd/Angus Cows, Bunny and Boo; her Tennessee Walking Horse, Ashford; her African Slider Turtle, Turtle; and numerous gold fish.
