Veterinarian Overview
Amy Fertig, DVM, cVMA Emergency Veterinarian and Educational Outreach Facilitator. Dr. Fertig received her DVM from Iowa State University in 2003. Following completion of an internship in Emergency and Critical Care at the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, Wisconsin, Dr. Fertig practiced emergency medicine in Chicago and Denver for 11 years. Dr. Fertig returned home to Iowa and joined Iowa Veterinary Specialties in June 2015. Dr. Fertig is certified in Medical Acupuncture, Laser Therapy and Canine Massage Therapy and has a special interest in pain management. Dr. Fertig also teaches future technicians in the Veterinary Technician Program at Des Moines Area Community College. She will also facilitate continuing education for local veterinarians.
