Dr. Dewolf opened a dog pound in the back yard of his animal clinic a few months ago. I guess he was trying to make some extra money boarding strays from the city and county. He built a kennel building in the small space behind the animal hospital. The building has very thin walls, not much space for the animals. Zero room for them to run and play. I live behind the hospital, and I'm worried about the animals he is boarding there in his back yard. There's not enough space, they seldom walk the animals, they aren't getting nearly enough exercise. They didn't even build a wall or anything around the space in the back yard, just a partial cheap plastic fence, not even enclosing the back yard area. If an animal got loose, it could easily run out into traffic on 1rst Av, the main street in Newton. This was a bad idea, implemented even more poorly. I can hear the dogs mournful whining and crying, it's really sad, I've (and many of my neighbors) have complained to the city, to no avail.
Dr. Doug and his staff are second-to-none at taking care of my fur-kids (and their mom!). He is always super gentle with my girl (dog) and gets right down on the floor with her. She is a rescue (mix of black lab, border collie, pittie, and who knows what else). Even though she was skittish when she first met him, but she absolutely loves going to see him. She gets so very excited when I tell her we're going to Dr. Doug's.
He has also assisted me in helping several fur-kids cross the rainbow bridge, and he is so compassionate and empathetic. He is also not shy about advising me when my girl needs a higher level of care. I respect that very much. Most doctors for humans won't even do that.
Dr. Doug-
Thank you from the bottom of our furry hearts! You are the bestest!!!!
Sincerely,
Julie Schmidt
