Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Nevis is a 1997 University of Illinois graduate. Her practice experience spans large animal-mixed practice, companion animals, exotic pets and 9 years of full time wildlife rehabilitation medicine. Dr Nevis felt right at home from the start with Bevlab's great staff and wonderful clients. When I was 12 years old, my dad saw I loved animals so he gave me All Creatures Great and Small for Christmas. I read the first 5 pages and thought, Gross! No way am I ever doing that!. As the years went by, I still loved animals but also come to love science, biology and working with my hands. Animal medicine combines these in a very unique way. I think going to the doctor with your pet is really stressful, especially if they are sick. I really want to put the client and the patient at ease as much as possible so the client can take in the information they receive and the pet can allow the staff to handle and treat them gently and safely. Going to the hospital is never going to be fun but anything that decreases the anxiety of it really impacts my ability to meet the needs of everybody involved, human and animal. I think of how Id like my family and my pets to be treated in a hospital setting and then aim at providing that kind of care. Her family consists of both parents and 5 brothers and sisters for humans. Two dogs Big Ben and Perl; her cat Murphy; Milky-The-Milksnake; 1 billion guppies (and counting).
