Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Manthey joined our practice in June 2015. He wanted to become a veterinarian for as long as he can remember. He was raised on a cattle and crop farm outside of Wenona, Illinois. He graduated from Peoria Christian High School in 1999 and joined the Air Force shortly thereafter. He became a laboratory technologist in Minot, North Dakota. After 6 years as a laboratory technician, Dr. Manthey was chosen to become an air traffic controller. He was stationed in Florida until he separated from the Air Force in 2009 to pursue veterinary medicine. He finished with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Illinois State University and received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois in 2015. Dr. Manthey is a member of the following professional organizations: American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Manthey's professional interests include cytology, ophthalmology, surgery and internal medicine. In his free time, Dr. Manthey enjoys watching University of Illinois football and basketball, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his wife of 14 years and their two boys Nate and Caleb. They share their home with their puppy Lily, a crested gecko and a ball python.
