Veterinarian Overview
I have been owner of Hanover Veterinary Hospital since 2007, and I am very thankful to be able to practice in such a wonderful community. Before coming to Cedar Lake, I practiced in Chicago for a few years, after graduating from Iowa State University in 2001. I've had many special interests in veterinary medicine over the years, but my main interest continues to be surgery, especially spay and neuter procedures. I have advocated for the spay/neuter of feral cats in our neighborhood, and I am constantly working on outreach to local shelters and rescue groups to help spay and neuter animals before unwanted litters arrive. It is very important to me that my practice philosophy shows in our work at Hanover Veterinary Hospital. We strive to focus on the whole pet and the whole family. Everything we do in practice dends on that core principle. Whether that means taking extra care to involve you as a pet owner in the decision-making process or going out of our way to make your pet feel safe and secure. Our medical care also makes sure to take a holistic approach to your pet's care. This includes important things like comprehensive pain management techniques, proper dental care, and special needs for elderly or chronically ill pets. We don't practice one-size-fits-all medicine, we want to work with you and your pet to find a well-rounded approach to anything your pet needs. I've lived in the Chicago area my whole life. I started taking an interest in veterinary medicine at a young age - my first job was cleaning kennels for my local vet in high school. Since then, I have been a veterinary assistant, a volunteer at the Iowa State Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and was editor-in-chief for the College of Veterinary Medicine's student-run medical journal. I was an associate in Chicago for six years before coming to Cedar Lake. In my spare time I enjoy sailing on Lake Michigan, and traveling with my family. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and about 15 chickens, at last count.
