Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Johns graduated from Purdue University in 1986, and went directly into an exclusively feline practice. In 1991 she opened The Cat Doctor. In 1995, Dr. Johns became the first feline specialist in Indiana by being one of the first group of doctors to take and pass the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) examination for board certification in Feline Practice. While other doctors may limit their practice to just cats, only those doctors who have passed the ABVP exam can call themselves specialists. This exam must be retaken every 10 years to maintain the certification. In November 2014, Dr. Johns passed her recertification exam again. Dr. Johns currently resides in Indianapolis with her husband Cole, their son John, and their three cats: Bianca Carlotta, Alex, and Tula. In her spare time she likes to read, quilt, and crochet catnip mice for thousands of cats, including many of the patients visiting The Cat Doctor.
