Veterinarian Overview
I am a former U.S. Navy kid that grew up around the globe. I knew from a very young age that I loved working with animals and very quickly identified veterinary medicine as my calling. I worked in shelters, clinics, and as a pet sitter while in high school in both Japan and England. I attended the State University of New York at Albany on my way to Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. I graduated from Purdue in 2015 and decided to find a long term home here in Portage, IN. I joined the Portage Animal Clinic family in the summer of 2015, bringing exotic medicine and behavior consultations to the hospital. While at Purdue and since I have focused on the preventative medicine that is so important for all of our animal companions. This includes nutrition, behavior, and dentistry. I also deeply enjoy working with the more exotic animals including reptiles, birds, and small mammals. While all veterinarians love working with animals, my passion for this work is actually the relationship that forms between a client and their veterinarian. I am invested in working with owners as a team to provide the best care and quality of life to their animal companions.I have a history of rescuing pets of all shapes and sizes and have helped rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, and even a crawfish, to name a few. Currently my home is fairly active with my English Spot rabbit, Trixie, and a fun loving Papillion mix, Tangent. They both certainly keeps me busy as we work on basic commands and harness training (yes, the bunny too!). In my free time I enjoy lots of outdoor activities, kickboxing, spending time at the state parks, and curling up with a good book.
