Veterinarian Overview
A graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, Dr. Nahrwold is married to Elaine and has three married children, Elisabeth, Stephanie, and Seth. Their grandchildren, Nate, Evelyn, Elyse, Anna, Zach, Ruth, and Lydia visit as often as possible. Dr. Nahrwold's son, Seth, graduated in 2013 as a veterinarian as well from Purdue Veterinary School. Along with Elaine, Dr. Nahrwold owns (or is owned by) two house cats, a Chihuahua, an Airedale, rabbits, and chickens. Besides being the only doctor in the practice, Dr. Nahrwold offers the consistency of care that is harder to find in multiple doctor practices, since he knows each of his patients and their history. He invests approximately 30 hours of in-class continuing education each year to stay current with advances in medicine and publishes the yearly topics in his annual newsletter. When necessary, he has the capability to send digitized x-rays and EKGs to consultants by internet or fax for fast turnaround. For all new puppies, he emphasizes behavioral training tips in the first visit. He also utilizes DVD presentations of short topics for better teaching opportunitties. Dr. Nahrwold is active in his church, Ascension Lutheran, and has served on the school board for 13 years along with serving as an usher. "There is nothing that I would rather be doing for a vocation and profession than what I am currently doing and plan to continue for many years to come, God- willing."
