Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Andrew E. Gutter was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his undergraduate work at Ohio University prior to receiving his B.S. and D.V.M. at the University of Illinois in 1972. Dr. Gutter joined Algiers Animal Clinic in 1972 and has owned the practice since 1977. His special medical interests include ophthalmology, orthopedics, and preventative medicine.Dr. Gutter also had the chance to spend 20 years as the head veterinarian at the Audubon Park Zoo. He has also served as an adjunct professor at LSU College of Veterinary Medicine and as a member of the Loyola Animal Care and Use Committee. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA) and the South East Louisiana Veterinary Association (SLVA).Dr. Gutter has been married to his wife and office manager Ann for almost 30 years. They have 3 children (Erin, Grant, and Barrett) and one grandchild (Xander). They also have a dog and two cats. Together, they enjoy traveling and golf.
