Veterinarian Overview
As a child, Dr. Nelson was a typical kid who had various pets that he loved caring for. It was this love that led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Nelson joined our team in July 2016 after earning his DVM from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a year-long internship (which he began as a post-graduate student) at Blue Pearl Veterinary partners in New York City, a major veterinary specialty conglomerate. During this internship, he received advanced training in feline medicine as well as in emergency and critical care. He is currently pursuing a specialty in ABVP Feline Practice.He also completed training in veterinary acupuncture and is working with Dr. Cousins for his official certification. To stay current on the latest trends in veterinary medicine, Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association. As our associate veterinarian, he enjoys meeting new patients and working alongside the excellent staff.Dr. Nelson loves caring for animals at work and at home; his own four-legged friend is a cat named Liesl. In his free time, he enjoys reading, biking, tennis, exploring parks, kayaking, brunch, and singing. In fact, he once auditioned for American Idol.
