Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Heather Williams realized she had a passion for science. She felt veterinary medicine was the perfect career, combining both her love of animals and fascination with medicine. I am so fortunate to get to spend my days helping people by helping their best friends, and being an advocate for these amazing creatures we share our lives with is an awesome responsibility. After obtaining her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from LSU, Dr. Williams completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Maryland. It was here that she developed her love for internal medicine and critical care, and began to appreciate the role she could play in helping a pet and their owners navigate a difficult or chronic illness. Communication is so crucial, and I love having that light bulb moment when everything comes together for a pet parent and they understand both what is happening and how we are going to work together to achieve wellness again. Dr. Williams is also passionate about advocating for pets and families in our community who are in need, and proudly serves on the board of directors for The Pet Pantry of Northwest Louisiana, a local non-profit that provides pet food through area food banks in order to keep families furry members and all together during difficult times. She also enjoys photography, music, and spending time with husband Dr. Jarod Williams, their two children, and Goldendoodle Betsy.
