Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Deirdre Vaughan is originally from Alabama, where she grew up around her grandparents farm and developed her life-long interest in animals. She attended Auburn University in Auburn, AL and received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1995. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she attended graduate school at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and received her Master of Science degree in Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology. Following graduate school, Dr. Vaughan returned to Alabama for veterinary school and received her DVM from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Upon graduation, Dr. Vaughan completed a year-long internship in Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at Southeast Veterinary Specialists in Metairie, LA. Already planning on pursuing her interest in dermatology, Dr. Vaughan remained at the same location and completed a one year dermatology internship. In 2008, she successfully completed a two year residency in dermatology at Louisiana State University and joined the staff of Long Green Animal Dermatology. Dr. Vaughan is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, serves as a peer reviewer for several veterinary journals, and is a national dermatology consultant with Antech Diagnostics. Dr. Vaughan is an avid Auburn Tiger fan and travels to as many football games as work will allow. She loves Shetland sheepdogs and also has a Hurricane Katrina rescue cat named Magazine. She and Dr. Bernstein are married and are proud parents to a girl and twin boys.
