Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jonathan Kaufman has been the proud owner of Eastern Animal Hospital since 1990. Dr. Kaufman received his undergraduate education from both the University of Maryland and the University of Florida. Then he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Florida in 1987. His areas of concentration are in small animal medicine and surgery. After graduation, Dr. Kaufman returned to Baltimore, his home, to practice small animal medicine. In 1990, he purchased Eastern Animal Hospital and within a short time had increased the doctors and staff, expanded the hours of operation and offered a wide variety of veterinary services. In 1998, he rebuilt and modernized the veterinary facility and now offers the benefits of a state-of-the-art hospital to clients. Dr. Kaufman performs many advanced techniques such as orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive procedures, advanced dental care, and laser surgery. In 2010 Dr Kaufman was appointed to the Mayors Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Commission where he spoke before the Department of Justices animal cruelty session. Dr. Kaufman continues to be a supporting member of the East Baltimore communities. For the past few years he has provided Ardens Arc free veterinary care for hundreds of feral cats that they rescue. In addition, Eastern Animal Hospital is a supporter of Canton Dog Park, Friends of Patterson Park, the Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter. Dr. Kaufman enjoys reading novels, automobiles, weight training and family activities with his wife and two daughters.
