Veterinarian Overview
Hi, Im Dr. Camille Chesley. I found a home at Indian Head Animal Hospital back in 1987, when coming on board to try to help fill the big shoes of our then retiring founder, Dr. Ed. Despite growing up in the city, I developed a love for animals both small and large. My childhood dream was to become a veterinarian. I feel very fortunate to have been able to live that dream. I enjoy working with the patients, clients and staff at our hospital. Getting to know so many of the pets and their owners over the years has been very rewarding. I spend many mornings at the hospital performing various surgeries and procedures. One of the most gratifying experiences Ive had was recently, on discharging a dog after emergency surgery. The dog and his owner were so happy to see each other, and after hugging his dog, the owner turned and said Hes back! Thank you! It really made me think this is what my job is all about!. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association, the D.C. Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and the Maryland Veterinary Medicine Association. I graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. I am married and live on a small farm in the Bowie area. Our household includes two German Shepherds, and a Shiba Inu that I adopted from the hospital some years back. We have adopted cats that enjoy life sharing their barn with the horses. My biggest and most time consuming hobby is riding and showing American Paint horses. They have given me years of enjoyment and needed relaxation.
