Veterinarian Overview
Our founder, Nancy L. Little, DVM, is one of the areas leading veterinarians. Dr. Little is a 1990 graduate of the VirginiaMaryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. Founded by the Virginia General Assembly in 1978, the VirginiaMaryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine is built upon the strong foundations of two of the nations leading landgrant universities: Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and the University of Maryland at College Park. Dr. Little has accumulated extensive experience with her house call practice in the Urbana, Ijamsville, Buckeystown, and Green Valley area, as well as providing her services to other veterinary hospitals in the area as a regular employee and as relief to other veterinarians. In addition, Dr. Little is proud to have been active in the Frederick County Animal Shelter spay and neuter program since its inception and has performed more than 3,000 spays and neuters within that program alone. Dr. Little and the Village Vet of Urbana staff also lend themselves to local charity programs whenever possible. Several staff members spend their days off volunteering at the Frederick County Animal Shelter helping animals in need. Dr. Little has opened the Village Vet of Urbana facility to many programs, performing surgeries and other procedures on the premises. These programs include the SnyderGrant Foundation cat spay program, the SNAP Program (Spay and Neuter all Pets), and United 2 Save Animals. During her work with United 2 Save Animals, Dr. Little performed 21 surgeries and procedures on cats the first day and 12 on dogs the second day. In addition to spaying and neutering, she also is active in rescue programs and assisting feral cats through trap and release programs. Through Village Vet of Urbana, she was the only vet in the area to offer lowcost rabies clinics for the pets of lowincome families. She and the Village Vet of Urbana staff have started the Ella Tebbs Foundation for Sick and Injured Animals in order to help animals in need through these types of services. Any donations are appreciated! Well known for her passion for her patients and their families, Dr. Little is extremely excited to be practicing veterinary medicine at Village Vet of Urbana, serving the Urbana area, including the nearby communities of Ijamsville, Buckeystown, and Green Valley. Dr. Little has been registered with the Maryland State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners since 1990. She is also an active member of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, as well as the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, and she has VIP status at the CVC convention for veterinary professionals. Dr. Little is a member of the Maryland Volunteer Professional Corp that responds in case of emergency and also is signed up as a first responder with the Frederick County Animal Control Emergency Responders.
