Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Matthews opened Village Veterinary in 1996. She is a 1989 graduate of NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation Dr. Matthews was awarded a fellowship to Harvard School of Public Health where she studied retroviruses for one year. Since then she has devoted her energies to private practice, with special interest in internal medicine and alternative therapies. Dr. Matthews is a certified veterinary acupuncturist, having successfully completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society's certification course in 1995. Dr Matthews is also trained in VOM (veterinary orthopedic manipulation) a specialized form of chiropractic manipulation for animals. Most recently, Dr. Matthews completed Dr. Richard Pitcairn's course in Animal Homeopathy and is a certified veterinary homeopath by the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy. Dr. Matthews has also completed the 4 year human program at the Baylight School of Homeopathy in Portland, Maine. Dr. Matthews enjoys spending her free time with husband Neal and sons Jesse and Tyson boating, mountain biking and skiing.
