Veterinarian Overview

I discovered my vocation in veterinary medicine after careers in music education and marine science. I have always loved music and took trumpet lessons from early childhood through college where I earned a degree in Music Education. After earning my degree from Marshall University I spent several years as a high school music teacher and assistant band director in rural West Virginia. Our band program was very successful and received statewide recognition. Despite our success, music education gradually became a less important part of the curriculum and I began investigating a career change. I decided on a career in marine science because of my long held fascination with the ocean. I earned a Marine Science degree from the University of South Carolina and began working as resident biologist at Pritchard’s Island, a pristine barrier island along the South Carolina coast that is accessible only by boat. On the Island I coordinated an ongoing loggerhead sea turtle conservation project and a variety of public outreach programs. It did not take me long to discover that I enjoyed working with the turtles as well as educating the public about the animal's life histories, preservation and habitat. At that point I began to investigate careers in veterinary medicine. Fortunately, a veterinarian brought an Explorer Scouts group (Veterinary Medicine) to the Island. After many conversations with her and several visits to her clinic, I was convinced that I wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia. I have been practicing veterinary medicine for over a decade now, and have enjoyed growing and gaining valuable experience while meeting many wonderful clients and their pets. As a pet owner myself, I am committed to providing the best quality care and personal attention that your pets deserve. I look forward to meeting you and your pet.

Dr. Eddins and his staff are wonderful. My 12 year old dog, has been living with cushings disease for awhile. Cottonwood Veterinary has always been available for his treatment with a caring heart. We recently had to let him go and their staff couldn't have been more compassionate and loving towards our dog as they helped him and us through the journey. I will forever be greatful
