Veterinarian Overview
A native Floridian, Tom returned to the University of Florida for his Veterinary Degree after receiving his B.S. from Duke University. He then completed a private practice internship at Apex Veterinary Hospital in southeastern North Carolina in order to gain some practical sport-horse and pleasure-horse experience. From 1989 to Present, he has made his home in Southern Pines, NC, first as the sole practitioner of Pinecrest Equine, and now as a partner in Southern Pines Equine Associates with Dr. Jim Hamilton. He is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. During the time that he has practiced in Southern Pines, his focus has concentrated primarily on Sport-Horse medicine, but he also includes broodmare management and alternative therapies among his areas of interest. He completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society course and has integrated the Eastern approach into his practice with some very exciting results. He feels that the complexity of syndromes experienced by the various disciplines of the sport-horse requires a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that are being offered in his veterinary practice with James Hamilton. In the summer of 2000, Dr. Daniel received the great honor of joining the U.S. Equestrian Team as the team veterinarian for the 4-in-Hand World Championships held in Germany. That team went on to finish 6th overall- the best finish for the U.S. Team since 1990.
