Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Sharon Mix is the Medical Director at VCA Animal Medical Center of Omaha. In this position she is responsible for establishing the medical quality and exceptional patient care practiced by all doctors in the hospital. Dr. Mix serves as a mentor and role model for the Associate and Staff Veterinarians. She was born and raised in Garden Grove, CA. It was clear most of her life that she had a great love and affinity for animals of all shapes, sizes and species. A career in Veterinary Medicine was always in her future.When she graduated from high school she went on to attend Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA where she earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Chemistry. She then attended San Diego State University earned her Bachelors in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology. Her big dream of becoming of Veterinarian came true when she graduated with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2009. Prior to joining VCA Animal Medical Center of Omaha Dr. Mix served as the Medical Director of VCA Rancho Animal Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. A move to be closer to family brought Dr. Mix to Omaha and we could not feel more fortunate to have her level of experience on our team. Dr. Mix and her husband Gordon, have two children. They have a dog named Rufus who is a Rottie/Shepherd mix. When she is away from the hospital she enjoys spending time with her family.
