Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Peterson is a board-certified small animal internist with 27 years of practice experience, 18 of which have been spent in specialty consulting practice. He is a 1987 graduate of the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1988, he completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After a year of emergency practice, he returned to academia to pursue specialty training, and completed a residency in small animal internal medicine at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. In 1996, following five years of referral practice, he opened InterMed Veterinary Internal Medicine Consultants, LLC, an ultrasound, echocardiography, and endoscopy-based mobile small animal internal medicine consulting practice serving Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. In the fall of 2011, Dr. Peterson and his wife and daughter moved to Pomfret, Vermont. Since coming to the Upper Valley, he has continued to serve his long-standing client hospitals, traveling south on Wednesday mornings and returning home on Fridays. He sees patients in Vermont and New Hampshire on Mondays, Tuesdays and Friday afternoons.
