Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Michael Morris grew up in Lansdale, PA. His earliest involvement with animals was in the 4-H and with his grandfather, a fifth generation cattle dealer. Because veterinary medicine offered the opportunity to have a job with a lifetime of excitement and challenge, he studied Animal Science at Penn State then attended the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary SchoolAfter veterinary school, Dr. Morris simultaneously started a veterinary practice, completed a residency in Avian Medicine and Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania and received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business on a full scholarship from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. He taught at the University of Georgia Veterinary School before taking a position with American Cyanamid, a pharmaceutical company in Wayne. Dr. Morris and his wife, Dr. Debra Morris, bought North Jersey Animal Hospital in Wayne in 1992.After American Cyanamid was sold in 1994, Dr. Morris continued to consult in the poultry industry with Pfizer, Roche and Merck and opened a satellite veterinary clinic in Riverdale. Both veterinary offices were sold in 2002, then in 2005 Dr. Morris repurchased the Riverdale office, and Animal Care Center was born. In between, Dr. Morris worked as an emergency room and critical care clinician which helps to guide the emphasis on round-the-clock patient care at Animal Care Center.Dr. Morris is the father of triplets, Brad, Lauren, and Gwen, who are grown and on their own. He is down to one cat, Tiffany, but expects to get another Border Collie soon. In November 2011, Dr. Morris finished hiking the Appalachian Trail, in 2013 hiked the Long Trail (from Massachusetts to Canada) and is planning to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (through California, Oregon and Washington).
