Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Shane Miller is a native of Minden, NV. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno where he received his undergraduate degree. Dr. Miller received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 1992. Following aninternship at Littleton Large Animal Hospital Equine Clinic, Dr. Miller completed his equine surgery residency at University of California-Davis in 1996. He subsequently returned to Littleton Large Animal Clinic Equine Hospital in 1997. Dr. Miller became board certified in equine surgery from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1998. While at Littleton Equine Medical Center, Dr. Miller served as CEO and Chief of Surgery. Since moving back to Nevada in 2009, Dr. Miller is the surgeon and shareholder of Comstock Equine Hospital and now Great Basin Equine Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Miller's professional interests lie in orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries with an emphasis in arthroscopy, laparoscopy and regenerative medicine. He also has a largeclinical interest in lameness and performance horse medicine. Dr. Miller travels internationally performing surgeries and pre-purchase exams. He has written articles in Veterinary Surgery Journal, Equine Veterinary Journal, Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association and many lay journals. Dr. Miller has also presented numerous surgical and lameness topics both nationally and internationally. Dr. Miller lives in Gardnerville with his wife Kristin and their three children Peyton, Camden, and Landin. When he is not practicing, Dr. Miller spends time with his family. His hobbies include anything with his kids, triathlons, cycling, and golfing.
