Veterinarian Overview
Our Veterinarian in Cold Spring is Dr. Peter Bach DVM, MRCVS, PhD. A native of the Hudson Valley, he went to Vet school in Germany, at Giessen University and graduated cum laude and has a PhD. in Biochemistry. In Germany Homeopathy is part of the curriculum and next to surgery this was one of his interests during school. His first job after Vet school was in ornamental fish health, but he then went on to England as a general practitioner, where he further developed his love for surgery. The 'Dangerous Dog Act' of the UK had just been enacted and all pit bulls had to be neutered or spayed and microchipped. "The great thing about that job" he said "was that I could do so much orthopedic surgery too." After practicing for 7 years in Europe he came back home to New York and took a job with Dr. John Whitefield in Hopewell Junction. Dr. Whitefield's practice is a surgical referral practice and this further honed Dr. Bach's surgical skills. He then spent 9 years in his last job, in the north west corner of Westchester as a surgeon and general practitioner. Dr. Bach is married with two children. He enjoys time with his family and friends, helping out the Philipstown Food Pantry, Photography and European model trains. We also speak German!
