Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Hope Jankunas is a graduate of Boston College, and earned her veterinary degree from the University Of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2009. After several years of practice in Manhattan, Dr. Jankunas relocated to the beautiful Hudson Valley and became the practice owner of Companion Pet Hospital of Fishkill in 2014.Dr. JankunasÂ’ love of animals drew her to the field of veterinary medicine. In fact, she declared at the age of 5 that she would be a veterinarian and worked diligently over the next 20 years to realize that goal. Her favorite aspect of being a vet is providing excellent care to her patients, as well as educating their owners about important aspects of maintaining good health. She enjoys working with all animals, but admits to having a particular fondness for felines. Dr. Jankunas makes it her policy to provide stress-free visits for all of her patients and will never rush through an appointment; she is happy spend extra time with nervous patients so that she can help them relax and have a positive experience at the vetÂ’s office.Dr. Jankunas is an amateur photographer, with her favorite subjects being her son, Jax, her cat, Finley, and her Golden Retriever, Stella. She enjoys hot yoga, karaoke, and cheering on the Florida Gators. To her, one of the best parts of living in the Hudson Valley is visiting local craft breweries and the wine trails with her husband, Dr. Jeremy Frederick. Dr. Jankunas volunteers with the Junior League, a national organization of women promoting philanthropy in the local community. She is also a member of several veterinary organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the Morris Foundation Lifetime Golden Retriever Study.
