Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Catherine Ruggiero joined the team at Nassau Veterinary Clinic in June 2014. She grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York and frequented the Lake George area and north of the border. Dr. Ruggiero completed undergraduate studies at St. Lawrence University with a focus in biology and psychology. After graduation, she worked in a veterinary clinic as an assistant/nurse and became interested in veterinary medicine and disease testing. She returned to school to pursue a graduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at Fordham University with a focus on Molecular Biology. This gave her a unique perspective on the tests used to diagnose diseases in medicine. She went on to complete veterinary school at the University of Missouri, where her extracurricular activities included working in the diagnostic pathology lab for animal disease testing and acting as a student liaison in pet nutrition. Dr. Ruggiero enjoys all aspects of canine and feline medicine, including nutrition, behavior, and ophthalmology. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys hiking and spending time outside, especially when her canine (and occasionally feline) family members can join her. She currently lives in Castleton with her boyfriend, two mixed-breed dogs, and a cat.
