Veterinarian Overview
Prior to completing his veterinary medical training, Dr. Proto earned a masters degree in human genetics from the University of Pittsburgh and spent 8 years working in clinical genetics as a counselor and teacher. Dr Proto graduated from St. Georges University in Grenada with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He completed his clinical training at the University of Tennessee. He started working for Mahopac Animal Hospital that year and stayed on as an associate doctor for 9 years. During that time he participated in extensive continuing education including advanced ultrasound courses, endoscopy courses and orthopedic surgical techniques laboratories. Dr. Proto also served on the Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society board for four years including serving as the president during 2011. Dr. Proto is very excited to be starting his own veterinary practice in Pawling, NY and is looking forward to serving the community and taking wonderful care of all of the family pets. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife Whitney, their two children and their dog Chloe.
