Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Himler focused her interests toward horses and small animals. She was active in the student chapter of American Association of Equine Practitioners where she served as President during her third year. During her four years at Ohio State Dr. Himler also volunteered for three years at Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO) during winter break where she adopted two of her five cats (Gus and Reba) who were displaced by Hurricane Gustav. She was also an active member of the Shelter Medicine and Surgery Clubs. Dr. Himler was a Bricker Equine Scholar her fourth year and was funded by the Morris Animal Foundation to research thyroid hormones in ill foals. She later published a paper in the Equine Vet Journal titled, "Presumptive Nonthyroidal Illness Syndrome in Critically Ill Foals." She won the Gertrude Hoeger Biomedical Research Award for her research from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine.
