Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Maness knew at a young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She started at the age of 15 as kennel help at a veterinary clinic in Ralston, Nebraska. Dr. Maness attended Texas A& M University in College Station, Texas, where she was an active member of the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets while pursuing her undergraduate degree in biochemistry. She graduated magna cum laude with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Her practice career began in Weslaco, Texas just five miles from the Mexico border where she learned to speak "Tex Mex" and work on cattle. The next career move was to San Antonio, Texas where she made her practice home for the next 16 years. Dr. Maness began as an associate and was the owner of one of the biggest clinics in San Antonio at that time with five doctors and a large support staff. This enabled her to concentrate on her love of surgery and often performed 6 to 12 procedures daily. This clinic partnered with another clinic and established the first Animal Emergency after hours hospital on the southside of San Antonio. This emergency clinic eventually merged with her day practice to become a 24 hour 7 days a week veterinary care facility.
