Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Eddie Crittendon’s parents remember him proclaiming that he wanted to be an “animal doctor” from the time he was six years old. As he progressed through school, an intense love of the sciences and a passion for problem solving began to grow in young Dr. Crittendon. Combined with his deep-seated adoration for animals, one career choice simply made sense: Dr. Crittendon was destined for the field of veterinary medicine!Dr. Crittendon—Dr. C to many of his clients and staff—grew up in the small town of Calhoun Falls, South Carolina with his parents and older sister. The family always kept more than one pet around the house, and it wasn’t difficult for Dr. C to develop an affinity with animals very early on in life. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Clemson University in 1987, and then attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine to earn his Doctorate in 1991.After working as an associate in Mt. Pleasant and Aiken, SC, Dr. Crittendon joined a clinic in the Upstate in 1994 and worked there until he opened Paw Prints Animal Hospital in May of 2001 at the clinic’s original strip-mall location. He moved into the hospital’s current site in December of 2004, where he’s been happily serving the pet owners of the Easley area ever since.Dr. C has particular interests in surgery, ophthalmology, and orthopedic exams. His favorite part of practice, though, is working directly with clients in the exam room. He absolutely loves being able to educate a pet owner with personalized healthcare tips!Dr. Crittendon and his wife, Mary, have two wonderful children: Anna and Drew. As a family, the Crittendons enjoy camping and hiking around the Upstate area, attending Clemson University sporting events, and remaining active in their community and church.Dr. C and his family share their lives with several pets of their own: Sallie, a border collie adopted from a client of Dr. C’s; Willis, a stray who was dropped off at the door of Paw Prints Animal Hospital; a cat who goes by IPTAY (named after the Clemson University athletic organization); Opie, a cat named after a character from The Andy Griffith Show; and 7Up, named for the seven toes he has on each of his front paws
