Veterinarian Overview
Jessie's childhood was full of animals. Through the work on their family's small sheep farm outside Dundas, Minnesota, Rice County 4-H, and Randolph FFA, Dr. Christensen gained a wealth of knowledge and respect for animals. Dr. Christensen attended South Dakota State University for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science before she was accepted to University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine to complete her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. In veterinary school, she focused a large amount of time on food animal medicine, particularly beef cattle - both feedlot and cow-calf operations. She also took numerous courses that focused on small animal medicine and surgery. While at South Dakota State University, Dr. Christensen met her husband, Grant, a Chamberlain area farmer. They married in 2011 after she graduated from veterinary school. This past summer, they adopted a blue heeler puppy named Cere, who spends a large amount of time at the vet clinic greeting clients and keeping the other patients company while they stay at the clinic. Before purchasing Mid River Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Christensen worked as an associate veterinarian in Gregory, SD. After a year and half in Gregory, Dr. Christensen decided she was ready to run her own practice and wanted to provide quality animal veterinary care for the people of Brule, Buffalo, and Lyman counties. In January 2013, Dr. Christensen took over Mid River Veterinary Clinic and has loved it ever since. She believes that livestock plays a key role in the sustainability of agriculture and our economy, and wants to help producers achieve great success with their herd. She strives to provide quality care for small animals so that they can spend as many happy, comfortable years with their devoted owners as possible. Dr. Christensen is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Academy of Veterinary Consultants, South Dakota Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
