Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Tai always knew he wanted to be a vet when he grew up. He was born in Texas and raised in Madison, Georgia. He attended high school in Augusta while his mother went to dental school. He went to undergrad in Statesboro at Georgia Southern University. While there, he got his first job with animals as a caretaker at the Bulloch County Humane Society. From there, it was off to Athens for four years for vet school. He and Laura, a Ringgold native, were married in 1991. He graduated from the University of Georgia vet school in 1993. After practicing at Emory Animal Hospital in Atlanta for a year, Tai and Laura moved to Chattanooga and opened Riverview Animal Hospital in 1995 in a converted dentist office that also functioned as their home. Dr. Tai has served previously as the president of the Hamilton County Veterinary Medical Association. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for the state of Tennessee in 2009 by the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association. He served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association for two years. He has served as President of the Board of Directors for the Humane Educational Society of Hamilton County since 2006. He is currently serving on the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for the State of Tennessee. Tai and Laura have four children; Lauren, Mya, Smith and Leo. They currently have two cats and a dog and a variable number of guppies. He still wants to be a vet when he grows up.
