Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Hannon joined PetVax Complete Care Centers in October of 2017 as an "Exotic Specialist". He primarily sees his exotic patients every Tuesday from 9-6 at PetVax Germantown (901-654-3110) but is also well versed in orthopedics, soft tissue surgeries and internal medicine for companion pets. Mainly, he practices at PetVax Germantown and PetVax East. Since June 1993. Hannon has practiced small and exotic animal medicine in the greater Memphis, TN area and has served as the primary veterinarian for Lichterman Nature Center from June 1993 until its Wildlife Resource Center was closed in September 1998. He is an active MEMBER of the following organizations. David Hannon, DVM, can now officially call himself a Bird Specialist. This is a significant achievement since there are only about 120 veterinarians worldwide that are board-certified in avian medicine by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. In Tennessee there are three others, but all of them are at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville. There are no avian diplomates in West Tennessee, Arkansas, or Mississippi! Dr. Hannon is now qualified to work at a zoo, veterinary school, or referral practice. Dr. Hannon is a 1993 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. While at Auburn, he served as the Student Medical Director for the Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center, and he interned at the Knoxville Zoo in Knoxville, TN and the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, LA.
