Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Trudy Smith is an associate veterinarian at AFAEH. She has worked here full time since 2007. She was born and raised in the DFW metroplex and chose to return home after graduation from vet school. Dr Smith always had an interest in animals and veterinary medicine growing up. She started working at a local vet clinic in high school in the kennel, worked her way up to a technician and continued as a technician through college. She was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M in 1998 and graduated in May 2001.Dr. Smith married the love of her life a week after graduation, had her first son in 2004 and was surprised with identical twin boys in 2007. She started working in emergency medicine in 2003 to challenge herself, continue working as a full time veterinarian, and also have a flexible schedule that would allow her to fulfill her desire to be a hands-on mom and spend as much time as possible with her beautiful family. The Smiths moved onto 50 acres east of Dallas in 2009. Dr. Smith continues to commute into Euless because she loves her job and the people she works with. She has a long haired dachshund named Frauline that has been with her since her first year of vet school. She also has a young Australian cattle dog mix named Jack that was adopted from the Irving animal shelter. While Frauline enjoys quiet time in the house, Jack enjoys running after the boys outside and is her husbands closest companion while he works outdoors. Dr Smith enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, and jogging. Her goal is to provide the best and most compassionate medicine possible for all her patients and clients.
