Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Stuart Johnson grew up on a farm in a small south-central Kansas town. His interest in animals and animal care began at an early age and developed into a desire to become a veterinarian. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1983 and practiced in Greenville and Corpus Christi, Texas. He served his surgical residency at Texas A&M University from 1986-1989 with an interest in orthopedics, primarily knees and growth deformities.
He earned an MS of Veterinary Science in 1989 and took the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) board exam in 1990. He became a Diplomate of the College of Veterinary Surgeons the same year and a member of the Greater Houston Veterinary Specialists. Seeing his case load evolve into primarily orthopedic and specifically knee surgery clientele, he struck out on his own and opened the Animal Surgery Center of Houston in 2004. His vision was to provide a clean, comfortable environment, state of the art facilities and equipment, and services at an affordable price with personalized client and patient care. The formula worked, and Animal Surgery Center has flourished since.
