Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Melinda Luper grew up in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 2001. She practiced in Tulsa for seven years before moving to Houston. After a brief stint doing relief work, she decided she missed her veterinary family and joined ours. She says, I feel like the staff here are very caring and treat every pet as one of their own furry kids.Dr. Luper enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but loves preventative care and nutrition the best. She also combines holistic medicine with traditional therapies for a unique approach to veterinary medicine. She has extensive experience in surgery and internal medicine. We are now able to welcome exotic patients to our hospital due to Dr. Lupers expertise. Besides the care she has provided for household avian and small mammal patients, she was also the veterinarian for a large exotic and wildlife sanctuary near Tulsa. Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) were under her care, among the many others.Dr. Luper is certified as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. If you are interested in getting your dog certified, we can set up a time for you. This is especially helpful for owners wanting to get their dog involved as a therapy dog. Also, some home insurance policies actually give a discount for certified dogs.Dr. Luper has two children of her own: Arrow, the German shepherd, goes to Schutzhund training every week and thoroughly enjoys her daily five-mile runs with Dr. Luper and Arrows new son, Leucian.
